TowerBrook About us

Our purpose

We work to protect and grow the savings of our investors and their families by partnering with management teams and employees to build excellent companies that make a positive impact on society.

By following our values, we can demonstrate that responsible ownership is excellent business practice that creates value for all stakeholders.

Our mission

Our mission is to deliver superior, risk-adjusted returns to our investors on a consistent and responsible basis.

Integrity, partnership, discipline and creativity are fundamental to the way we work. We strive to excel in everything we do.

Integrity & partnership: our team
Teamwork and a collegial environment are central to our culture. We value honesty and humility. We respect the views of others and we encourage debate and intellectual curiosity.

We recruit outstanding people who are able to work across diverse cultures and regions as one team. We align our interests within our team and with our investors and management partners. We believe in supporting the local communities where we live and work.

Discipline & creativity: our business
We are committed to our strategy. This requires patience and discipline in identifying and developing investment opportunities. We seek to partner closely with exceptional managers to drive value creation in all our investments.

We encourage creative thinking: it fosters flexibility, resourcefulness and the entrepreneurial spirit.

Our strategy

TowerBrook Capital Partners is an investment management firm that has raised in excess of $18.7 billion to date. Our value creation strategy aims to transform the capabilities and the prospects of the businesses in which we invest.

We are disciplined investors with a commitment to fundamental value. We seek to deliver superior, risk-adjusted returns to investors on a consistent and responsible basis.

Responsible ownership is central to our strategy for value creation. Responsible policies and practices help build stronger businesses and deliver better outcomes for all our stakeholders.

We partner with a large and growing network of highly talented managers and experienced, senior advisors who share our values and support our investment objectives. Our entrepreneurial, multinational, single-team approach allows us to act with speed and certainty in multiple jurisdictions.

We invest through different Funds that allow us to access a range of opportunities through the cycle and across the capital structure.

TowerBrook’s Private Equity strategy is to pursue selected, control-oriented investments in large and mid-market companies, principally on a proprietary basis and often in situations characterised by complexity.

Our Private Equity Funds invest in a range of sectors and types of businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. We focus on companies where we have identified potential for significant improvement and growth.

TowerBrook’s Structured Opportunities strategy leverages our experience and expertise to complement and enhance our private equity investing activity. It allows us to identify and develop a broad array of opportunities, principally via structured asset and structured equity investments.

TowerBrook’s Structured Opportunities Funds typically make minority investments in businesses where founders or shareholders are seeking not only capital but a partner who can add value to their business. As with our private equity investing, we seek to source proprietary opportunities where we can build the relationships that are integral to successful investment outcomes.

Established in 2021, TowerBrook’s Impact strategy is a natural evolution of the firm’s differentiated and disciplined investment approach, in line with our longstanding TowerBrook Responsible OwnershipTM principles. TowerBrook’s Impact strategy seeks to partner with exceptional entrepreneurs and management teams focused on growing purpose-driven businesses that generate specific, measurable social or environmental impact, and with business models that directly contribute to addressing at least one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The industry areas where our Impact strategy is particularly active include Healthcare, Financial Services and Education/Human Capital, where we expect impact to have primarily a social dimension; and Food & Agriculture and Water, Environment and Clean Energy, where our impact emphasis will be on sustainability.

TowerBrook’s Impact Fund makes control and non-control investments in North American and European businesses where our value-added approach can contribute to continued and sustainable growth, whilst delivering positive and sustainable social or environmental impact. Building on our experience in delivering improved ESG performance across our PE and TSO portfolio, we have developed a rigorous impact measurement and management system to ensure the impact of our investments can be quantified.  As with our private equity and structured opportunities investing, we seek to source proprietary opportunities where we can build a partnership with founders and managers who themselves are seeking more than capital.  Our resources include a network of advisors with whom we have built decades of experience in responsible investing, including a dedicated Impact Advisory Board comprised of seasoned executives who embrace TowerBrook’s purpose and bring relevant industry experience in key sectors aligned with our Impact strategy.

Established in March 2021, TB SA – Special Purpose Acquisitions Company intends to target companies enabled by digital solutions to address Africa’s sustainable priorities. Africa holds the promise of many exciting economic opportunities, driven by its large population, accelerating rates of urbanization and large-scale investments in infrastructure, health, education, banking and communications.

Recognising the significant opportunities across Africa for ESG investment opportunities as support of the United Nation’s 17 development priorities increases, TB SA will leverage its Board and TowerBrook’s network to identify a compelling target and provide transformational capital via a merger and listing on the NASADAQ. TB SA will be led by Andrew Rolfe as CEO and Gareth Penny as Non-Executive Chair.

Our culture

We promote responsible policies and practices within TowerBrook and in our portfolio companies.

We seek to create a dynamic professional environment that attracts exceptional talent to our firm. We are proud of the culture we have nurtured at TowerBrook, and we work hard to ensure it continues to flourish.

We expect each member of our team to show leadership by exemplifying and promoting TowerBrook’s values, internally and externally. We invest in leadership and professional development for senior and junior members of the TowerBrook team to maximise the potential and performance of individuals and of our firm.

Our aim is to continue building a diverse, inclusive team that will thrive on generating ideas, solving problems and stimulating value creation.

Diversity and inclusion

TowerBrook is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce that embodies integrity, teamwork and respect for others and encourages new ideas and perspectives.

We believe that diverse and inclusive teams make better decisions, and diverse teams build better businesses. TowerBrook’s support for diversity and equal opportunity is integral to our culture and at the core of our identity as a firm. Our commitment is reflected in our Responsible Ownership Statement and our Purpose and Mission Statements.

We have formed a Diversity Working Group comprised of senior professionals from across the firm to lead the development and assessment of our diversity and inclusion initiatives. We seek to recruit top talent from a diverse pool of candidates, and ensure that we are supporting, mentoring, developing and retaining highly talented people over the long term.

We include diversity and inclusion considerations as part of our investment process and seek to build diverse Boards and management teams in the companies we control. We have implemented anti-harassment policies, equal opportunity employment policies, and complaints procedures, and we encourage our portfolio companies to do the same.

As a firm, we are also committed to fostering a work environment and career progression path that is supportive to primary and secondary caregivers, as reflected in our Parental Leave Policy.

We continue to develop metrics to help us track the progress of our firm and our portfolio companies in promoting a diverse and inclusive working environment. We keep our diversity programme, and our evaluation of its effectiveness, under constant review.
